A warming center will be open this Thursday-Saturday, regardless of weather conditions. Please help us spread the word to those who may need a warm, dry, and safe place to sleep!
We are often asked, "Why is the warming center open Thursday through Saturday and not Friday through Sunday like you did last year?" Great question! First of all, this is only our second season opening up three nights every week no matter what. We are very thankful to have the funding to allow us to do this and offer these consistent nights of reprieve for those who need a safe and dry place to sleep beyond freezing nights. Two observations led us to adjusting the nights for this Winter: 1. Many of our host sites are churches that have services on Sundays and need the space we use for the warming center. Although doable, it was difficult to tear down and set back up every Sunday morning. 2. Cherriots graciously and generously offers free rides to and from the warming center. Buses don't run on Sundays, which makes transportation that much harder for our guests and limited volunteer team. We are always looking for more people to join our pool of volunteers!
