We are excited to start our 5th season of the Polk County Warming Centers and continue the mission of providing a safe, warm, and hospitable place to sleep for some of our most vulnerable neighbors on our coldest nights. The season runs November 1 through March 31 and will be open at our rotating site in Dallas, Independence, or Monmouth as well as the Falls City Community Center when the overnight low temperature is forecast to be 32F or below. Similar to what we did last year, the center will also open at our rotating site three nights per week (Thursday/Friday/Saturday) regardless of weather conditions. Please help us spread the word!

Thank you for your support of the Warming Centers! This past Winter, we were able to stay open every weekend, Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights, offering a safe and warm place to sleep for even more of our neighbors. You can see our overall stats below.
As we (hopefully!) head into Summer soon, we'd like to invite you to consider helping in a few ways:
If you'd like to be involved in any of these projects, please let us know! We will remain open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights through the end of March -- regardless of the weather or temperature. Please help us spread the word to anyone who may need a safe and warm place for the night.
As we close out the 2021-22 Winter Warming Center season, we want to share a special "THANK YOU" to everyone who has donated, hosted, given rides, made referrals, or helped in any other way. Neighbors serving neighbors has always been the heart beat of the Polk County Warming Centers, and it's because of our generous and caring community, that we are now nearing the end of our fourth year of providing emergency shelter (and often much more!).
